Franz …

of Assisi in the Reuschenberger Mühle

Two-part architecture mapping with live music in the studios of Qi Yang and me, one story higher

Franz was the basis for my cooperation with Qi, my long-time studio neighbor in the Reuschenberger Mühle. Qi had built a temple out of heavy pulp blocks in the summer of 2021, which reminded not only him of Assisi. The idea of projecting onto it a Liquid Image I had composed from photos of Romanesque monasteries in Armenia and Georgia was compelling.

Projection [mapping] on Qi Yang's sculpture »Assisi«

Roger Hanschel (sax) and Marei Seuthe (vc) put together a program for this installation of pieces they had composed especially for this theme.

Marei initiated the second mapping one floor higher - in my studio - where she first played alone my new sound sculpture »Qi«, a little later again in duet with Roger. This mapping showed the same Liquid Image »Romanesque 1« as seen before on Qi's sculpture, but in 12.5 meters width over the complete studio back wall.

The interest in »Franz« was so great that we performed it twice in quick succession.
